Chhapra (H.K.Verma): Rail Wheel Plant at Bela under Dariapur block in Saran district has accelerated the pace of producing wheels for passenger trains and the Railway Board has fixed a target of 30 thousand of wheels of passenger trains during current fiscals. The plant has been working in three shifts to complete this target. Established in 2008, this plant started production of wheels for Goods trains in 2013. Since 2016, after a trial, the plant had been producing both wheels for goods and passenger trains.

       Disclosing this Sunny Vishwajit, C.P.R.O.(Chief Public Relation Officer) of this Plant said recently “ It has been a matter of pride for Biharis that wheels produced at this plant are being used in most of the important passenger and express trains of the country ” adding that this plant has shifted on paperless works with on line system for inviting tenders, quality and energy  management and has been certified by Green Co. Differentiating the wheels of Goods and Passenger trains, the CPRO said that there has been difference in weight and chemicals of both wheels. “The weight and radius of wheels of Goods has been 484 KG and 1000 mm respectively while for passenger wheels it has been 384 KG and 920 mm” informed the CPRO. 

Amit Kumar, a resident of Dighwara, who frequently visits this plant  said that on an average about 250 wheels are casted every day at this plant. In this connection he said that the plant has been second in India after Bengaluru and has produced 7465 wheels in 2013-14, 12,282 in 2014-15, 26716 in 2015-16, 28220 in 2016-17 and 26004 in 2017-18.
