Bed Tea consumption is as good as consuming Liquor!

Chhapra, July 22:  Talking on ‘Diet For Weight Management and Fitness’ on Sunday afternoon in local Ram Krishna Ashram premises, Maj(Retd) Dr. Madhukar Kumar suggested neither to consume over nor under diet as both are responsible for causing obesity in human being. Dieting does not mean starvation or over eating, he said. This talk was organized on the occasion of World Doctor’s Day which is celebrated every year on the birth anniversary of noted physician and former C.M. of West Bengal Dr. Bidhan Chandra Ray. Swami Atidevanand Maharaj, Secretary of this Ashram welcomed the guests.

Madhukar said “ 5 percent of about 12 crore of Indian women are  obese due to irregular timing of taking meals” adding similarly consuming Junk food like Pizza, cold drink, lack of exercise and improper resting period, watching Television have also created havoc in maintenance of body weight. He further said that Hearts and Lungs must remain strong for working more hours as cardio-vascular endurance and flexibility of joints and muscles are essential factors. Underlining the role of balance diet in maintenance of good health, Madhukar said that it contributes 50 percent while exercise and rest are responsible for 25 percent each. He categorically said that diets are different for different persons and said “Right nutrition in right amount at right time should be followed”.

       Considering the habit of consuming bed tea in the morning, Madhukar compared it equivalent to the consumption of English liquor and suggested to replace bed tea with Bed Fruit like Banana, Mango, Apple or walnuts etc as we need some energy in the morning after fasting for over 9 hours. Talking about noon’s meal he said “It should be lighter than morning breakfast” adding that dinner must be light and consumed at least 2 hours before going to bed. However, he stressed to divide the 3 principal meals to 6 and to consume something at an interval of 2 hours. He suggested to avoid red meat, Maida preparations, but advised to take ‘Ghee’, Mustard oil, coconut oil etc.
