Visually challenged in a position to challenge the nature

Chhapra ( H.K.Verma):  The word handicapped is considered unfortunate for any person and has been replaced by a more appropriate word ‘divyang’ in recent days. But the nature has been favourable to such persons in providing additional qualities in such people. This has been proved in some of the girls admitted in Kasturba Gandhi Vidyalaya located under Parsa block of Saran district. This school has 25 seats reserved for the admission of visually challenged girls. The school has managed Braille equipment for imparting instructions to such ‘Divyang’ students.

Neha and Chhoti, resident of Prabhu Nath Nagar Mohalla of Chhapra, are students of this school reading in class 2. Both of them are well known for their excellence in the art of singing without any effect for being visually challenged. The school has managed musical instruments for them, but they are not getting proper training due to non appointment of a Music Faculty.

Harsha (9), a student of class 3rd of this school and resident of village Pirouta under Baniapur block of the district, is daughter of Shobha Devi and Umesh Singh. Umesh runs a grocery shop in the village. It is Nature which has made discrimination with Harsha because the other sister of the twins Vandana is normal with her eye sight. Although, visually challenged Harsha has been blessed with melodious singing caliber. She attracted the attention of the people during a program organized for the ‘Divyang’ in Sonepur fair in 2018.

Sanju(14), another student of this school, reads in class 8 and is a resident of  village Pirganj under Dighwara block of the district. Out of the three offsprings of Sita Devi and Truck driver Shyam Babu Rai, the nature has played this cruel joke with her. She has been not only blessed with the art of singing but also with knitting, Bouquet making and other arts.

Appreciating the merits of the above girls,  the BEO (Block Education Officer), Parsa block Diwakar Singh  said “ Proper training to these students would provide reforms in their arts”. On the other hand, Block ‘Pramukh’ Sabita Devi has assured to take this matter with officials to arrange part time Music Faculty in this school for the excellence of these visually challenged girls.
